Steer clear away from using this service. They are unreliable, rude and not at all committed to customer service.

Donnelly's comes and fixes your appliances when they break, they are appliance Ninjas.. Not all circumstances are the same, but if you don't buy an extended appliance warranty, I suggest adding these guys to your cell directory. Your other choice is to buy a new replacement I picked up a 2nd hand Sub-Z for $400 in excellent condition (This unit is $7,000 new). Donnelly came out, checked it, replaced the coil with labor for $500 w parts & it runs like a Ferrari. -Good economics and good guys.

Plenty of other options.... don't call Donnelly

We scheduled an appt with Donnelly's to fix a dishwasher -- which of course broke 3 days before we were hosting 80 people for a holiday party. We agreed to the Friday afternoon appt, between 12-5. I told Michelle, who scheduled the appt, that someone would definitely be there but just call ahead to let us know that they were coming -- as it would be a busy afternoon. At 3:30 this afternoon, when I came downstairs after ironing a tablecloth, I saw a missed call on my cell phone from 15 minutes prior. I figured this meant they would be here momentarily but the message said to call back. So I did, and the woman rudely informed me that "the tech already left your area, he's got stuff to do and can't wait around all day for customers to call him back." I explained that WE, were in fact the only ones waiting around all day -- and that I had NEVER implied that anyone would not be there to meet the tech, only that it would be a very busy day and I wanted a little heads up so that we could clear the kitchen area, etc. I also explained that with every other company, they usually call 30 minutes before arriving.... and that 15 minutes barely gave someone time to jump in the shower and dress before they've missed their window. Michelle, and then Rich (the owner), informed me that if I HAD NOT requested the call ahead, the tech would have simply driven to my house --- so I guess the lesson is don't attempt to be courteous to Donnelly, and they will show up. Maybe. Or, call someone else.

I have used Donnelley's for years. While the rates are high, they are competitive. They have been very upfront about pricing. They have offered suggestions if they think the repair is worthwhile or if we should just invest in a replacement. They are prompt and helpful when it comes to service times. I have used other repair services as suggested by a manufacturer and end up going back to Donnelly.

This company charges exhorbitant rates, they are unethical in thier explanation of charges and the woman that takes the calls is the rudest service person I have encountered to date. They charged us $413 for 2 hours of work to fix our Subzero and there was only one $40 part was not on warranty! That's a service fee of more than $175 /hr. I have written and called Subzero too to complain about thier choice of service vendors. I feel abused and don't like it - when I called to question the fees that was a complete disaster in terms of how I was treated and their response.

This company charges $88.00 as a service call fee, and then will add an additional charge for labor to repair your appliance. I have used them for the last time and would recommend calling someone else for your repairs that is more reasonable with labor charges. They only accept cash or checks which is another reason you might go elsewhere. Not at all friendly on the phone either.

I have dealt with Donnellys for the past 22 years and have always had good dealings with them. Though I dont always like having to wait for a repair because of a part, I do understand in this economy that sometimes parts are not always readily available and sometimes we have to wait. But Donnellys always seems to come through in the end with quality parts and service. Good job to the Donnellys crew!

Donnelly Appliance Service in Stratford is top notch. A&E Factory Service was who the manufacturer scheduled but they were a no show so I called Donnelly's. Serviceman was bright, polite and pleasant. Was in and out in 40 mins, clean and the price was less than I expected. Would go back without hesitation. (Item serviced was a Kitchenaid Superba Gas Convection Oven and Range, replaced igniter to oven).

In our busy lives I find it very odd that Donnelly has no way for a customer to leave a message after hours. I called on Sat re my dryer that stopped working. They were good about saying they would come Monday between 9 and 12. However, later on Sat, the dryer worked and I decided to cancel the service call. I had no way to do that because I called Sat afternoon and they won't accept messages. Then I tried Monday morning at 7, 7:30 and 8 am and then had to leave for work. I admit that when I got to work I went in to a meeting right away and next thing I know my son is calling me saying the man can't find anything wrong with the dryer and we need to pay $88 anyway. He gave the service man a check but I am still miffed that in this day and age, a service oriented company won't accept after hours messages. Of all the service providers we use for various things, Donnelly is the only one whose message says they can't take after hours calls - not even to leave a message!

Called Donnelly for warranty work for a fridge from Hallock's in West Haven. The first time, they did fix the problem (evaporator coil). This lasted for a few months. Then, the fridge stopped cooling slowly. I called them again and they came, diagnosed a freon leak, and said they needed further research. No one called back as promised and when I called them they claimed to have no record of the visit. Now, the freezer has stopped freezing and we'll see how long before it gets fixed, if it can be fixed at all. By the way try to avoid Kitchen Aid refrigerators. Their reputation for quality is way, way overrated.

I have spent entirely too much money to have my washer fixed and still it is not fixed. Repairmen said it was a transmission, paid for the service call. Came back with that part, paid labor again, then he is supposed to come again and charge again. I could have bought a new washer by now. I am going to make them refund my money and take the washer away because I am not paying a carry away fee because of this lack of competence. EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED

Excellent!

I really like these people. Very businesslike, the repair people are nicely groomed and friendly. You can tell they've been around awhile as they seem to diagnose problems quickly and accurately the first time. You won't go wrong. Don't be put off by the brisk manner of those who answer the phones -- they are just hurrying to get your problem solved. pac
